Job Role Summary 13;
Under limited supervision, performs advanced scientific experiments using catalyst preparations including bench top chemistry, formulation, sampling, commodity characterization, small unit operations and new unit startups, while adhering to all safety requirements and practices.
Job Role Responsibilities 13;
:Carrying out various catalyst preparations and working with PhD Scientists
:Synthesis, Calcinations, Ion:Exchanges, Metals Impregnations, Extrusions, Steaming
:Operation and maintenance of small scale pilot units
:Communication with researchers on experiments and unit performance
:Writing and documenting standard operating procedures
:Performing routine maintenance/mechanical work to support operations of equipment
:Organizing and maintaining laboratory areas, preparing and submitting samples for analytical testing, recording observations and data, providing input for modifications and improvements of processes and equipment 13;
Job Requirements 13;
:Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety standards and practices
:Ability to identify potential safety issues and propose solutions
:Bachelors / Associates degree in a science field with laboratory technician experience
:Ability to be effective in an environment with a high degree of multi:tasking
:Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
:Work enthusiastically and effectively with researchers, operations team members, maintenance personnel
:Mentor/train other personnel
:Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
:Ability to make decisions and establish work priorities to complete assignments on:time with tight deadlines and limited supervision
:Maintain a high technical quality standard
:Ensure quality by meticulously following both standard and job specific procedures
:Strict compliance with data integrity principles (accurate records, measurements, calibrations, etc.)
:Ability to develop procedures
:Ability to work overtime (both extended hours and weekends), as business needs dictate
:Physical requirements include handling catalyst samples/hydrocarbons up to a 55 gallon drum size, working with a variety of hand tools, wearing a respirator for certain tasks
:Strong computer skills especially in Excel
:Willingness to move between laboratory and pilot plant assignments
:Familiarity with operational parameters and equipment (pumps, reactors, gas meters, mass flow controllers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.)
:Perform analytical testing and submit/inventory samples as needed
:Knowledge of the applications, uses, and properties of materials in petroleum refining and petrochemical processes, as well as knowledge of inorganic and organic chemistry is desirable.
:Experience working in the area of zeolite catalysis is desirable 13;
